Women's liberation design project
In the concept mood board, I have combined the body modification I am willing to use in my collection (the shoulders pads) with Katherine Hepburn who was an important figure of the 40's. She was against the dressing up rules of the society and she used to wear masculine clothes when most of the people were judging this idea. The Eye of Horus which is an ancient Egyptian symbol of protection and royal power, the UFO and a similar shaped jacket I have found.
For this project I have been choosing as inspirational words: power because it has a link with the body modification I am willing to use. The words protection and space were just words with a lot of inspirational power for me.
For this board I have combined the client profile I will design for with some of my competitors they are all ready in the market like: Ganni, Max Mara, etc
In my first design development board, I have combined the textures I am willing to use like: the leather which inspires protection. It started being used by the ancient Romans to fortify their armour so is a symbol of power and protection, denim which gained importance due to its aspect of durability and this is some fabric manipulation I have experimented with, the eye of Ra which has almost the same signification as the eye of Horus, the hard shell of the turtle which represents perseverance and protection and some rough sketches.
The second design development board it shows another idea I will be using, the one of layering the fabric to give volume. This idea is taken from the astronaut suit, which is made of many layers to protect them in space. Another idea I have been using is the gold which is a symbol of masculine energy, knowledge and the power of the sun combined with some of my rough sketches.
The third design development board is a combination of rough sketches, shapes and textures, which helped me in my design process.
The last development board is more about the final line up combining the rough ideas with the look I am willing to use.
The collection mood board is a combination of some relevant ideas for my collection like acrylic paint which I will be using it on denim and leather, an idea about the concept and shapes, and a colour palette.
The final line up board is made by editing the final sketches in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
